Due to the fact that I am going grey at an amazing rate, do I go gracefully or start now down the road of hiding the grey. And if I do that, at what point is it cool to have the nasty roots while letting myself go back to au naturel?
Speaking as a guy with a lot of grey hair of my own, I think women who keep their natural hair color are much sexier and more attractive. Your face shows your age -- you can't fool anyone really. Accepting yourself is the hottest thing you can do.
I don't have any gray yet, but my natural hair color is pretty blah... dirty blonde or dishwater blonde. I go every ten weeks or so and get foil highlights put in. You might consider doing that. The upkeep isn't a big deal (every ten to tweleve weeks is fine) and as your roots grow out, there's not a definite line like there is when you completely color your whole hair.
I have gray sections [not total head] and I used to dye my hair. It because a pain to upkeep so now I go for the foil highlights. My hair is light brown and I get blond and red highlights, and somehow it cover the gray and looks okay. There are no obvious roots to deal with and you don't have to go in as often for redos. Char
I already have a few grays that chris is so nice to point out. But i have always died my hair regularily for like the last 8 years so i guess it wouldnt be much of a change for me to upkeep it.
I'm always torn on this. When I see younger women with shiny silver hair I'm in awe - they look so beautiful and CONFIDENT. Bold enough to go against society's standards. Love it.
Then I look at my mom (hope she doesn't read this!) who is 60+ and dyes her hair and looks young. I think if she was grey it woudl wash her out - can't imagine it. But as a brunette she looks younger.
Who knows what I'll do! I gave up dying my hair for the fun of it a couple years ago but when the grey comes in quicker I might have to re-think my decision!!
I would go for the dye. I don't think you'd want to go for a dark shade, but a lighter shade that is easier to make the transition to grey when you would like to!

At this stage in life, I am incline to say go for the dye. Who wants to look older than they are? But then it becomes maintenance.
