Happy Birthday Sam, and beyond!

Yesturday was Sam's fourth birthday. I can't believe that my boy is four! The time has flown by so fast, and he is changing everyday. He continues to have no fear of anything, and is a going concern at all times. I'm assuming that the next four years and then some will be full of much energy and excitement as he continues to discover life.

Claire and Daniel finish school tomorrow, and then summer vacation begins for real. It's full of plans for camp and camping, day trips and bonfires, fun and more fun!

My sister lost another wee heart the other night. She and her family have gone through much in the last few months and tomorrow they move to their new house. A time of change and adjustment, sorrow and healing. I am thankful that they are surrounded by so many people who care for them.

Shower Fun????

Sam was beyond opposed to having a shower before church today. He wanted a bath instead. We didn't have time for that, so I decided to bribe him with bathtub crayons. He and Claire joined me for a shower and they got right to work doing up the walls in fine style. I even got in on the fun. It seems to wash off very easily, alot of it running before we were even out. I'll have fun tomorrow scrubbing the rest off, but at least we all went to church clean.....

Another Rainy Saturday...

We have had some great weather as of late so we really can't complain, but I do wish that the weekends could be nice so we could go do something fun outside. It's raining buckets, and the house is cozy, the kids are happy, I got to talk to my sister, teach a neighbor how to cast on for knitting, etc, but it seems rather blah...I'm thinking I need another cup of tea.

The yard sale was a 13 dollar success!!! Daniel interjecting here. I couldn't believe they went ahead with it, but they did. I was so mad when I got home and saw all the stuff in the yard, lots of rain, and no customers....Hud did clean it all up though which made me feel a little better.

I have started a gardening blog , designed by Jodi , not full of advice as I have none to give, but rather a place for me to keep track of the creation of my space. I am quickly running out of room, and am working on going vertical.... It's nice to get other people's opinions and solutions to problems. I have decided since starting Gardening In My Jammies, that I quite enjoy capturing the amazing details of the flowers on camera. The colours are stunning, the detail in each bud is exquisite. I'm thinking garden photography might need to be my new hobby.

The kids finish school for the summer on friday and then we are free to frolick wherever we wish. Daniel goes to camp in a couple of weeks, so I need to start getting him organized for that. He runs in the Hbc run for Canada on July first, so he is getting excited. His friend is running with him this time which he is also happy about.

Well, off to have my tea, and then tackle the pile of laundry that needs folding and putting away.

And then he was gone....

My father left this morning to head home out west. Already the silence is driving me nuts. He said good-bye to us last night as he wasn't sure he could handle the emotions this morning. Saying good-bye was so very hard and of course I cried. When you finally get to have someone in your life and they live so very far away, every moment is precious and far too short.

I really do not like good-byes and I don't like to think of the length of time it will be before I see him again.

I'm off now to make myself busy, trying to lose the feeling of loneliness that has washed over me.....

Our last day with Gramps....

5:27am

What were you doing at that hour? I was sleeping soundly when I was awoken by someone hollering "DO IT, DO IT, DO IT!!" and then much laughter as another body I'm assuming cannonballed into the pool a few doors down from us. I had woken a few times in the night to loud laughing and talking and just assumed it was my neighbor and friends enjoying their bon-fire. I'm now thinking the people down the way had been partying all night. After much laughter and loud exclamations they went back in their house and the sound became muffled but still audible. I wouldn't want to be right next door.

Today is fathers day, and we are going to Grams place for the afternoon, where the kids will enjoy the vast space in which to run. I will enjoy not preparing any meals today, and Hud will enjoy the ribs and various other treats Gram and her friend will have made. It promises to be a great day weather wise, making our last few days with my father even better.

ARRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!

We have twenty five people coming for a BBQ tonight for the graduating youth. We are now under a heavy rain and windfall warning. Neither is condusive to good BBQ-ing..... This was the only night that worked for everyone. So I now have the pork loin that was to be made into kabobs and the chicken breasts that were to be marinated, in great quantity in my fridge. My mind is racing to come up with a menu change that will accomodate all of the food. It seems a lot more than we need since we will not be cooking outside. My oven is just not big enough and I still have bread and dessert to make as well. It also means that everyone will be inside....look out kids...crazy mom coming through!!! Let the cleaning party begin!

That also means that we won't be having a bon-fire. That was to be half the fun. I guess now we will have to come up with some games? Anyhoo...off to get things moving.....
