What are the odds...

That a garbage truck would pull into our church parking lot with a flaming load of trash? I would have said slim to none until yesturday afternoon when we received an e-mail from the church secretary filling us in on the afternoons entertainment. Hud was enjoying his day off at home so missed all the fun. The driver dumped the flaming load, Alice called the fire department who were on site within five minutes and the fire was out soon after. Cleanup took place last night and by all reports this morning, the newly resurfaced parking lot looks fine. This will be a tough one to top I should think! the sooty load as seen from Alice's office window.... I can only imagine the stentch!

OMG! I wonder what started on fire?!

Glad it was able to dump it and save the driver and the truck though.

Oh my gosh that is nuts! I hope they figure out who the driver of the truck was and get an explanation. Poor Alice! At least it was cleaned up without any signs of it the next day.

The driver didn't leave the scene. He had to bail the garbage or the whole truck could have blown if it had gottem to the gas tank. He had no other choice.

Now, that's one for the record books!
I bet there's not many churches that have had THAT dumped in their parking lots.
Not only was it trash, but trash on fire.
WOW!
Your church secretary had quite a day to remember!

OH! Ok that makes sense. Still a crazy story.
I wonder what made the load catch fire in the first place.

Whoa! That's crazy. The picture of Alice shrugging her shoulders is hilarious though.

I think next year's Ladies Retreat theme song should be
"Come On Baby, LIGHT MY FIRE"
by the Super Cabin Garbage Queens!!

This seems like something you would see on one of those home video shows- it doesn't even seem real (though I know it was.) YUK.
Life is an adventure.

My hubby drove garbage truck for a few months to help with money and trust me they even dump it in the middle of the road in down town Vancouver if there is smoke! It happens more then the public knows. OH and dead bodies... not a good place to go to sleep those dumpsters!
